Barking News: Artiphany Is Now Featured on The Grommet

Hello Artiphans,  Today, Artiphany's Pack of Dog Playing Cards and Kitten Club Playing Cards went live on the product discovery marketplace, The Grommet. This is a wonderful, exciting, invigorating moment for our little company - and we are so grateful to be included in The Grommet's enchanting world of creative products. To mark the occasion, a moment of reflection direct from Mr. John Littleboy himself: our artist-in-chief and proprietor of all-things-Artiphany.  "What does it take to become an overnight success? In my case, about 30+ years of hard work, good luck, some variant of lucid dreaming and a stubborn dedication to the idea that one day all of my effort would have to pay off. The genesis of our appearance on The Grommet falls into...

The Tantalizing Void: Off Leash Edition

Hello Artiphans,  Inspired by the warm response to our mini-series on the origins of Artiphany, and John’s own artistic odyssey, we are launching a new series today that dabbles in a bit of Artiphany-inspired ekphrasis. In each installment of The Tantalizing Void, we will dissect John’s most popular illustrations and characters, peeling back the paint to expose the story behind the sketch. So, let’s get at it! As it has proved the inspiration for the informal motto of our little business ( “Live Life Off Leash”), I thought we’d kickstart The Tantalizing Void with an image that is pure, raw Artiphany. Quintessential John Littleboy down to the minute sparkles on the doggy scarf that flies high above the pack of feverish...

Artiphany Rising

Dear Artiphans, On this midsummer, midweek morning, I have news both happy and sad: Our series detailing John’s path through life and art comes to a close today, with the final installment (as of yet, that is) in The Tails of Artiphany. We’ve had such a wonderful response to these minihistories, with great enthusiasm for John’s work and great empathy for his story. Thank you for all your comments and emails. They brighten our inboxes much in the same way we hope this series of posts has brightened yours. We pick up the narrative today around the time John returned from his experimental trip to Shanghai (the one that, if you are forgetting, involved a questionable cabbie and his questionable...

Midnight in Morocco, Sunrise over Shanghai

Hello Artiphans, Here we are: One year (and two days) after our Pack of Dogs playing cards went viral on Reddit. And now seems like the perfect time, in these dog days of summer, to continue the story behind those cards—the story of Artiphany, the story of an artist named John Littleboy. But first, a footnote: We started down this lane of John’s memories in order to tell the origin story of Artiphany in three, neat chapters, ending with a final chapter today, on this anniversary of our little business’s worldwide debut (if you will). What we didn’t expect was that this story would take on a life of its own, bending past the predictable form of a trilogy...

Hand to Mouth, Brush to Wall

Hello Artiphans, And a very happy summer day to you. Isn’t this just the best time of year? Splashing in the lake, sunbathing on the deck, nibbling bits of potato salad and hot dog that have dropped off the plates of oblivious humans...simply dreamy. But the real reason I’m here today is not to soliloquize about the sensations of the season: I have a story to tell. When I last left off, young adult John was looking forward, towards an uncertain future, and looking inward, to find some answers about where his art would take him next. So here we have it: The Tails of Artiphany, Chapter 2: Hand to Mouth, Brush to Wall To continue this tail (I mean TALE,...
